Modalities
Acupuncture
Inserting thin, sterile needles into specific body points to balance energy flow (Qi) and promote natural healing. It has a history of over 1000 years and is widely used for pain relief, stress reduction, and treating chronic conditions like nausea or migraines. Western perspectives suggest it stimulates the body’s natural pain-killing chemicals, increases circulation, and reduces inflammation.
Cupping
Applying a negative pressure on the skin, by either heating the air in a cup or using a manual pump. The negative pressure pulls the skin and underlying muscle tissue upward, breaks the stasis, increases blood flow, reduces inflammation, and promotes healing.
Moxibustion
A gentle heat therapy, most well known in the US for turning breech babies. It’s also used for joint pain, arthritis, muscular spasms, digestive issue, fatigue, low immunity, menstrual cramps, fertility support, etc. A moxa stick (resembling a cigar) is lit and held close to the skin for several minutes, to stimulate the acupoints and meridians.

Meet Ying Zhang
Ying Zhang is a California Licensed Acupuncturist (L.Ac) and Diplomate of Oriental Medicine certified by NCCAOM (The National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, now called NCBAHM).
Ying became interested in Chinese Medicine after it helped her with insomnia, digestive issues and fatigue, with which she had struggled for years. Out of curiosity, she took classes and attended workshops about this thousand-year tradition. It eventually became her life long calling.
Ying holds a Master’s of Science in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from Alhambra Medical University, CA. She went to China after graduation to follow local practitioners where she encountered hundreds of cases every week and got to treat patients under supervision and guidance. Ying continues to learn new theories and skills and applies to her practice to improve overall results.
Ying loves spending time practicing martial arts, Chinese calligraphy and tea. She enjoys cooking, hiking, knitting, and gardening in the LA Arboretum where she volunteers regularly.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need an appointment?
Yes, we’re by appointment only. Please make an appointment by phone call, texting, or email.
Do needles hurt?
Acupuncture needles are way thinner than the needles for your blood work. It may be a little stinging when first inserted, but the sensation usually subsides in a couple of minutes. If there is a constant stinging sensation, always let your practitioner know so it can be adjusted.
How can I prepare for my treatment?
– Make an appointment via phone or email. Verify your eligibility if you wish to bill through insurance.
– Wearing loose, comfortable clothing is helpful. We provide gowns as well.
– Eat a little bit before your visit. Do not come hungry or right after a big meal.
What to expect in my initial visit?
Initial visit usually takes about 90 mins. It usually goes like this:
– An in-depth inquiry about your health history and concerns
– Acupuncture needles are carefully applied
– Rest and let the needles work their way
– Complementary therapies, such as moxa, cupping, may be applied base on conditions
What to do after my treatment?
– Rest if possible, you may feel a re-balance of the body
– Have an extra layer if you’re going somewhere cold, e.g. the supermarkets
– Eat and drink warm food
Can I use FSA/HSA?
Unfortunately, we do NOT accept FSA/HSA as of now. We do provide superbills for reimbursement purposes.
I’m on Medicare. Can I use my Medicare insurance?
We accept some Medicare supplement plans. Please contact us to verify your eligibility.
Do you take Worker’s Compensation?
Yes, we’re in network with Medrisk. You may talk to your insurance adjustor and suggest Acupuncture with Ying as your acupuncture provider.
Is there a cancellation fee?
There is no charge for cancellation. However, we do appreciate it if you call us 24 hours in advance for cancellation.
